Dr. J. Desmond Ward, Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Dr. J. Desmond Ward was born in New York, New York.  He graduated from Riverdale Country School in 1987 and Union College in Schenectady, New York 1991. He then attended New York University College of Dentistry.  After earning his degree in 1996, Dr. Ward completed a General Practice Residency at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center and was awarded a fellowship from Columbia University. Afterward, he received a Certificate of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, New York in 2002.  Dr. Ward then entered private practice.

 Dr. Ward is Board Certified and therefore, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.  He is licensed to practice in both New York and New Jersey. Dr. Ward is an Assistant Attending Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Clinical Instructor of Surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center.  He has also written and been published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Patients with Chronic Oralfacial Pain, Volume 61, pps. 662-667. 

Dr. Ward is a member of many dental societies and specialty organizations, among them are, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, the New York State Dental Association, the New York County Dental Association, the New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the New York Academy of Dentistry. Dr. Ward is also a member of the New York
City Medical Reserve Corps. 

As a dedicated husband and father of three, Dr. Ward has many interests outside of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  He
enjoys competitive sailing and drawing.
